Job description

Various reactive metals (RM) are to be investigated for their suitability as a storage medium for large amounts of seasonally generated energy. The chemical / electrochemical oxidation of aluminum serves as a reference and alternative RM should be evaluated in terms of energy density, potential costs, conversion rate, conversion efficiency and availability. The electrolyte should be optimized in a flow cell and then a concept for the integration of an oxygen reduction cathode for continuous operation should be designed. You will publish the research results you have obtained in relevant specialist journals and present them at national and international conferences. Your job profile is rounded off by the academic supervision of students. The workplace is in Ulm.

Personal Qualification

You have a university degree (Diplom (Uni) / Master) in the field of chemistry with a doctorate and several years of professional experience in the field of wet chemical laboratory work (synthesis, handling of test setups and chemicals) and electrochemical characterization methods (cyclovoltammetry and other potentiodynamic measurement methods, galvanostatic analysis) . We expect you to have in-depth knowledge of the application of various physicochemical characterization methods for surface analysis (XPS, IR/RAMAN spectroscopy, mass spectrometry). In addition, you bring experience in morphological characterization (transmission and scanning electron microscopy, TEM & SEM, optical microscopy) and in structural characterization (e.g. X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction). You have very good written and spoken German and English skills.
