Ulm is located on the Stuttgart-Munich railway line and can be reached directly by train from most of Germany's larger cities. From the main train station, tram line 2 in the direction of Science Park runs every 10 minutes to the university. You leave the tram at the Botanischer Garten stop. From there, turn right into Helmholtzstrasse.
The nearest airports are in Stuttgart and Munich. There is a regional airport in Augsburg with destinations within Germany. You can get to Ulm directly from all three cities by ICE / IC or IR with Deutsche Bahn.
Coming from Stuttgart or Munich: Leave the A8 motorway at the Ulm West exit. There you drive on the B10 in the direction of Ulm / Friedrichshafen and leave it at the exit Wissenschaftsstadt - Universität. At the first traffic light, turn left into Albert-Einstein-Allee and then leave the roundabout at the third exit and get into Helmholtzstrasse.
Coming from the direction of Nuremberg or Würzburg: Change from the A7 to the A8 in the direction of Stuttgart at the Elchingen interchange. Now follow the further description of how to get here, as if coming from Munich or Stuttgart.
Coming from the direction of Kempten or Memmingen: Leave the A7 motorway at the Hittistetten motorway junction in the direction of Ulm. Now drive on the B10 through Ulm to the Wissenschaftsstadt exit and follow the directions to Helmholtzstraße.
In special cases (such as filming, service or maintenance work), two visitor parking spaces are available directly behind the institute. Please speak to your contact person at the HIU about this.
You can also park comfortably in the multi-storey car park 200 meters from the institute. All parking spaces on the Ulm University campus are chargeable.
