On Friday, September 17th, 2021, HIU celebrated its 10th Anniversary at Ulm Eselsberg.

The Helmholtz Institute Ulm (HIU) invites you to Ulm Eselsberg (Science City) to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. Take part in the celebration festivities on Friday, September 17th, 2021 (09:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
Exactly 10 years ago, in 2011, the Helmholtz Institute in Ulm (HIU) was founded. Since then, top international research and development of electrochemical cell and battery concepts of the next generation have been taking place at the HIU. The international team of around 135 scientists has been researching the development of sustainable energy storage systems for stationary and mobile use.
Anniversary Celebration on September 17th, 2021 (09:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.)
For our 10th year anniversary we plan an extensive celebration on Friday, September 17th, 2021. Following the traditional greetings, there will be a 45-minute discussion with top-class politicians, scientists and business representatives on the future of battery research. In addition, video greetings from Nobel Prize winner Prof. Stanley Whittingham and Federal Minister for Education and Science Anja Karliczek are planned.

Expert panel: "Electromobility, Energy Transition and Battery Research"
The highlight of the program is a discussion round about "electromobility, energy transition and battery research". The discussants are six experts from industry, politics and science.
Location & Address
The anniversary celebration will take place right next to the HIU building in Ulm's Science City. For the celebration we set up a pavilion on the east side of the building.
Address: Helmholtzstraße 11, 89081 Ulm.
Arrival and Parking
Parking: You can use a "VIP parking lot" on the west side of the HIU building. Alternatively, there is a public parking center at the beginning of Helmholtzstrasse - right next at the roundabout.
Vehicle charging point: There is a single charging column directly in front of the HIU building. If necessary, three additional columns in front of the "WBZU building", up the street next to the HIU building can be used.
Beginning of the celebration event: The event starts at exactly 10:00 a.m. (in the pavilion for 100 people). Prior to that, we start with small drinks / snacks that are available from 09:30 a.m.

This is not a public event. Each guest receives their own invitation by email.
Corona rules at venue
In order to comply to the Corona-rules HIU has established a detailed hygiene concept in consultation with the local authorities. Access to HIU premises is only granted to people who are fully immunized (either due to a recovery from a SARS-CoV2 infection or by a vaccination) or have a valid test. Wearing a medical face mask is mandatory if the minimum distance cannot be guaranteed. Medical masks and rapid self-test kits will be provided at the venue.
