Bruno Scrosati, visiting professor at the HIU and formally affiliated with the University of Rome Sapienza and the Italian Institute of Technology, is among the world’s top scientists, according to the recently launched Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researchers list.
In creating the list, Thomson-Reuters collected data on articles filed in the Web of Science Core Collection from 2002 to 2012, selecting only articles that were labelled as Highly Cited Papers. Highly Cited Researchers presents around 3,200 researchers in 21 main fields of science and the social sciences. The list is based on two separate studies both drawing on data and commentary from Thomson Reuters bibliometric experts via InCites Essential Science Indicators, the world’s leading web-based research analytics platform. The analysts used a unique compilation of science performance metrics and scientific trend data based on journal article publication counts and citation data from the Web of Science, the leading web-based platform for scientific and scholarly research.
This new compilation of Highly Cited Researchers updates a previous site, originally known as ISIHighlyCited, first launched in 2001. The older collection identified researchers according to total citations to their work.
Professor Scrosati was selected in the top 1% most cited researchers in the field of materials science. He has been involved in research on lithium battery materials and has contributed to the progress of this field with several hundred scientific publications. Professor Scrosati has received various awards in recognition of his activities; these include the Research Award of the Battery Division of the Electrochemical Society, the Vittorio De Nora Award of the Electrochemical Society, the President chair of the same society, the XVI edition of the Italgas Prize, Honorary Doctorates in Science from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland in 1996 from the Chalmers University of Technology, Goteborg, Sweden in 2008 and from the University of Ulm, Germany in 2012.
